Standard Room Names

Standard Room Names keeps Innomesh room names aligned with an authoritative external source, such as a facilities or space management system. Innomesh treats that source as the single source of truth for room names, suggests those names when rooms are created, and raises a Notice alert for any room whose name does not conform. This feature was introduced in Innomesh v3.5.2.

How It Works

Standard room names are always synced from an external source of truth. They are not defined or maintained within Innomesh, and there is no in-product setting to author the approved list.

Because every organisation’s source system and data are different, Standard Room Names is set up as a custom integration delivered by Innomate. The integration runs a scheduled synchronisation, typically once per day outside business hours, that gathers the approved room names from the external system and loads them into Innomesh as the reference list of valid names. No manual triggering is required.

📝 Note
To enable Standard Room Names for your tenancy, contact Innomate. The synchronisation is built against your specific source system and data.

Once the reference list is in place, Innomesh applies it in two ways depending on where a room is created.

BehaviourWhere it appliesWhat happens
SuggestionRoom Manager rooms (Space VC, Space CE, Pulse, and Sight)The Room Name field remains free-form, but suggests matching names from the reference list. Users can select a suggestion or enter a different name.
EnforcementInformation room entriesThe room name must be chosen from the reference list. Free-form entry is not permitted.

The distinction is deliberate. A single standard room name can map to more than one Room Manager room (for example, two configurations serving the same physical space), so suggestions are offered rather than enforced.

Suggestions in Room Manager

When creating or editing a room in Room Manager, the Room Name field shows suggestions drawn from the reference list as the user types.

  • For Space VC and Space CE rooms, the suggestions appear in the room creation Properties form.
  • For Pulse and Sight rooms, the suggestions appear in the room creation and edit form.

In all cases the field stays free-form. Users can accept a suggestion or type a different name if needed, which is what allows more than one Room Manager room to share a single standard name.

Enforcement for Information Room Entries

When onboarding room information independently of a room configuration (an Information-only room), the prompt to enter the room name and ID requires the name to be selected from the reference list. This ensures Information entries always carry a conforming, standard room name. See Room Information Onboarding.

Non-Standard Room Name Alerts

After each synchronisation, Innomesh checks every room against the reference list. Any room whose name does not conform raises a Non-Standard Room Name Detected alert at Notice severity.

Because a standard name can legitimately map to multiple Room Manager rooms (and those extra rooms will not have a matching Information entry), the Non-Standard Room Name Detected and Room Information Missing alerts can both be suppressed for a room. See Alert Suppression.

📝 Note
Existing rooms are not renamed automatically. The reference list drives suggestions, enforcement on new Information entries, and the nightly conformance check, but it does not rewrite names on rooms that already exist.
